THE TWO-TRACK LABOUR MARKET
According to PwC, AI is changing jobs in two key ways. The first is what it describes as‘ professionalised’ roles, where AI automates routine tasks – placing more emphasis on human skills. The second is‘ democratised’ roles, in which AI makes the work easier for non-experts to perform. However,‘ professionalised’ roles are seeing twice the growth in available jobs and 42 % faster salary growth than those categorised as‘ democratised,’ as AI increases demand for more senior skills from junior workers.“ The companies seeing the greatest returns on AI are using it to amplify human expertise, accelerate innovation and create entirely new sources of value,” says Joe Atkinson, Global Chief AI Officer of PwC.“ As a result, they are pulling further ahead on productivity and growth than companies that focus primarily on automation.”
