THE BRIEFING
DESIGNING A SUPPORTIVE OFFICE ENVIRONMENT
Workspaces that prioritise employee learning and wellbeing are more attractive to employees, according to findings from Gensler.
The architectural firm’ s Global Workplace Survey – which spans 16 countries and over 16,000 employees – finds that workplaces that are designed to support rest and focused work sessions are more likely to be seen as effective for learning by employees.
Desirable features for office spaces include dedicated areas for quiet working and training, as well as manageable noise levels, up-to-date technology and flexible layouts.
Nearly half of respondents say that a workplace should include outdoor areas or a view of nature.
Gensler says:“ As AI changes how work happens, the workplace is taking on a new role.
“ If we continue to see workers emphasise learning and social connections, the physical workplace will become a more critical investment in people.
“ Spaces that support wellbeing, learning and collaboration help organisations attract talent, strengthen teams and enable employees to do their best work, now and into the future.”
